Testimony
The Spirit and testimony of Christ will come to you for the most part when, and remain with you only if, you share it. In that process is the very essence of the gospel…You cannot find it, nor keep it, nor enlarge it unless and until you are willing to share it. It is by giving it away freely that it becomes yours.(Ensign, January 1983)
Your personal security and happiness depend upon the strength of your testimony, for it will guide your actions in times of trial or uncertainty. (Ensign, November 2001)
The most precious thing in the world is a testimony of the truth.
Had any of the human family a knowledge of the existence of God in the first instance, by any other means than human testimony? They had not. What testimony of men, in the first instance, that there is a God? Human testimony, and human testimony only.
To bear one’s testimony is to make a solemn declaration, affirmation or attestation that personal revelation has been received certifying to the truth of those realities which comprise a testimony.
Personal testimony is the factor which turns people around in their living...This is the element which motivates the membership to forsake all the service of the Lord...This testimony which is carried in the hearts of our people motivates to an impelling duty...It impels to action. It demands that we do what we are asked to do. (Ensign, May 1998)
You may know. You need not be in doubt…The necessary procedure is: study, think, pray and do...The Lord has promised repeatedly that he will give you a knowledge of spiritual things when you have placed yourself in a proper frame and mind...”And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”
You cannot light a fire in another soul until it is burning in your own. |
